History of Survival, Strength, Courage, Pride & Service

Corio Primary School commenced near its present site in 1861 and the single-room bluestone was constructed about 1865.

Corio Primary School has a long standing tradition dating back to 1861 when it was named Cowies Creek State School No. 124. Corio became an important educational institution catering for children belonging to the new Shell estate; a housing complex for Shell Refinery workers. After many structural changes and a fire in 1981, the original bluestone building was rebuilt as a feature and a modern brick building with a courtyard designed is now in place.

The school is situated on the northern boundary of the City of Greater Geelong and central to the area of Corio, approximately 75km south-south-west of Melbourne, servicing a large residential area. The school has been a recipient of Commonwealth Equity Funding which has enabled it to become very well equipped.

We are proud to present our school which blends the old with the new. This modern, well-kept school, with its modern facilities, provides pleasant surroundings for learning at its best.
